The Director core functionality is strictly separated from the user interface. This makes developing different user interfaces easy - currently there are three: a command line interface, a Webmin module called Tamias and a standalone web frontend BigClerk.

navigate through objects in a tree view	even web frontends may allow things like changing view / sort / context menus / etc.
objects are edited in a tabbed form	Director supports synchronizing a big number of services relying on directory data - even if they do not directly support LDAP
Through simple wizards every-day tasks can easily be done by untrained people.
